Festa: Swing Knights SOLO JAZZ Series: Class #2!

In partnership with competition winner and solo jazz fanatic Erika Victoria Dane, Swing Knights is proud to present a brand-spanking-new short series of progressive beginner Solo Jazz classes taking place at UCF throughout the summer!

This series is perfect for those wanting to improve their solo and partner dancing, and even those just wanting to jam out! These classes will increase your repertoire of solo jazz moves each week while learning new ways to mix them all together. WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY? A SUDDEN SOLO-JAZZ JAM CIRCLE?! No worries, you'll blow the competition out of the water in no time after these classes!!

Our classes will take place on UCF campus in the Student Union Garden Key Ballroom, room 221.

Pricing: $5 donation per class.

THIS CLASS: Solo Jazz Class #2

In this class, we’ll learn a routine incorporating traditional vernacular jazz moves with variations using triple steps, weight changes, catchy rhythm steps. Completely new to solo jazz? No problem! I’ll break down the moves with counts and show you how complicated-looking steps aren't as complicated as they look.

About Erika:

Erika finally stepped into her first Swing Knights class after months of invites from her friends. Before that, she didn’t know swing dancing went beyond doing triple steps while holding hands... One house party, a jazzin' Jony Navarro, and a City Girl Swingout later, she was hooked.

Erika later moved to Nashville, Tennessee and started taking classes from Tim Munsell and Jon Tigert. She started traveling to workshops and exchanges to collect all the knowledge she could on Lindy Hop, Charleston, Blues, Balboa, and especially Solo Jazz.

With the belief that to best connect your partner, you have to connect to yourself, Erika hopes to share with you some jazz moves you can do on your own and empower you to break out of your shell and express yourself.
