"Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect" :-)
8 COUNT LINDY HOP (11am - 2pm)
Based around Lindy Hop & Jitterbug as it was originally danced in the 1940s. This workshop is based around the 8 count rhythm pattern and, in particular, The Whip (or Lindy Turn) which is the foundation of the dance. You will learn a selection of 8 count moves, lead and follow techniques, rhythm, footwork, movement and styling necessary to feel confident on the dance floor.
CLASSIC MOVES FROM THE MOVIES (2.30pm – 5.30pm)
This workshop is based around the original dancers from the films & shorts of the ‘30s & ‘40s such as "Buck Privates", "Maharaja", "Groovie Movie", “Hellzapoppin”, “A Day At The Races” etc . You will learn classic moves like switches, rhythm turns, flying hals & the dean’s wrap as well as a selection of key “Savoy Style/Charleston” based moves. We strongly recommend that people attending this workshop are familiar and confident with the Whip (Lindy Turn), Swingouts and Circles.
