Festa: INTENSIVE SWING DANCE WORKSHOPS

INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS - SUNDAY 8TH MARCH
These workshops are suitable for complete beginners, newer dancers who to want to get to grips with 6 Count Lindy Hop & 8 Count Charleston Style Lindy Hop. They are also excellent for more experienced dancers who want to master their basics and perfect their technique. It is also recommended for dancers who have done other swing styles and want to get to grips with this authentic "Hollywood Style" dance and/or Charleston Style Lindy Hop
These workshops are designed to teach and reinforce social dance skills, therefore we insist on partner rotation in these workshops.

INTRO TO 6 COUNT LINDY HOP (11am - 2pm)
An intensive workshop designed to give you a basic grounding in Lindy Hop. Based around Lindy Hop & Jitterbug as it was originally danced in the 1940s, this workshop will teach you a selection of 6 count moves, lead and follow techniques, rhythm, footwork, movement and styling necessary to feel confident on the dance floor. The workshop is three hours long (including short breaks) and is designed ideal for complete beginners, people who want to consolidate their basics or for people who have done other swing styles and want to get to grips with this authentic "Hollywood Style" dance.

INTRO TO CHARLESTON STYLE LINDY HOP (2.30pm - 5.30pm)
Original Lindy Hop (1927) was an extension of Charleston and evolved in response to the “vertical” rhythms of hot jazz from the late ‘20s and early ‘30s. However, it is also ideal for faster tempo music with a more even beat. We start with basic footwork and stylings, covering The Jockey and a number of variations. We will then teach Charleston based Lindy Turns, Swing outs and Circles, before ending with the Tandem Charleston (intros, outros and variations).
