Supporting the Jam will be Dogtooth
Pint-sized Mod rockers Dogtooth are taking the UK gig scene by storm bringing back the bygone era of punk rock.
In just over a year the sensational three-piece band – who are starting out even younger than a fresh-faced 14-year-old Paul Weller did with The Jam – have secured a strong fan base across the country for their nod to the classic Mod counterculture.
As well as playing their own brand of energetic Mod rock, the young band, whose bass guitarist hails from Lanarkshire, are winning support up and down the country for their eclectic mix of covers of punk classics from the likes of The Jam, The Clash, The Who, The Stranglers and The Stone Roses.
Dogtooth are: Craig Morrison (13) from Larkhall, on bass; lead singer/guitarist John Hewitson (13), from Kilburnie and 15-year-old drummer Robert Lang, from Linwood.
Craig and John formed the band after a chance meeting at Millport Scooter Rally in August 2013 and, eight months later, Robert stepped up to complete the budding rock outfit.
Craig, a pupil of Larkhall Academy, said: “I saw this wee guy even younger than I was sitting playing The Jam on an acoustic guitar. We decided to form a band that day.”
Since then the lads have notched up a string of high profile gigs, including returning to the scooter rally on the Isle of Cumbrae one year on to showcase their burgeoning talent.
Their appeal has since spread across the water to Belfast where they recently played to a sell out crowd.
Also keen to support local charities, the boys have performed for The Teenage Cancer Trust in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Dogtooth are also proud to have supported 1980’s new wave band Heaven 17 and Mod revivalists Secret Affair, as well as renowned Blondie tribute act Dirty Harry, and at East Kilbride Arts Centre in January, they opened for one of the UK’s greatest tributes to Modfather Paul Weller – The Underground Jam.
Also supporting will be Marc Culley. Marc is a regular face on the north east music scene and will be supporting Black Grape twice at the start of July.
We will also have Martin Penny playing some Northern Soul in between the bands.
Doors open at 8pm, over 18's only. Go to www.etickets.to/buy/?e=12782 to buy tickets. They will also on sale at the Waterside Inn reception, Martins barbers and Motor Parts (Fraserburgh) Ltd from next week.
