Festa: R&S Records - In Order To Dance Label Showcase feat Renaat
Início > My Aeon > R&S Records - In Order To Dance Label Showcase feat Renaat
When you look at the history of dance music culture there is one label in particular that has stood at the forefront, R&S Records is that label.
Renaat Vandepapeliere (the R from R&S) has played a massive part in shaping dance music as we know it, As the founder of R&S, Renaat was one of the first to welcome techno when it came from America to Europe in the 1980s, giving a young Derrick May and Joey Beltram a chance at producing and releasing records in Europe. R&S aimed to preserve the true soul in those recordings and not water it down to meet the expectations of European audiences. Soon the label was pushing the innovative new sounds of Aphex Twin, Paula Temple, Jaydee, C.J Bolland, The Source Experience/Robert Leiner, System 7, Dave Angel, Ken Ishii and Model 500/Juan Atkins all who went on to become legends in their own right. In 2006 after a hiatus of several years he began another similarly prolific run into the present day that has seen the likes of James Blake, Delphic, Pariah, Untold, Blawan, Vondelpark, Radioslave score hits on the label, while closing the circle with other artists, such as Atkins and his seminal Model 500 project.
Renaat as a DJ pushes the boundaries of dance music, showcasing music from the label featuring many unreleased tracks as well as the extensive back catalogue of R&S, the weaponry at his deposal is second to none.
