Festa: Archie Fisher at Montrose Folk Club

Archie Fisher is a legendary figure in the Scottish folk music world. He is everybody’s favourite singer and an enormously influential presence musically on other performers. He is also an outstanding guitarist with a distinctive style of his own.

Archie Fisher initially performed in the Sixties as the Fisher Family with his Sisters, Ray and Cilla, both of whom are also outstanding Singers. Cilla Fisher later went on to achieve great success with her Husband, Artie Tresize as the Singing Kettle.

For such a prolific live performer, the recorded output of Archie Fisher is surprisingly sparse, but includes the highly acclaimed “Sunsets I’ve Galloped Into from 1996”, “Windward Away” from 2008 and his most recent record, a Silent Song, from 2015. A Silent Song is a wonderful record in which Archie combines original compositions with his interpretations of classic songs, both traditional and contemporary.
